Ready to transform your organization’s online presence?
Let’s build a website that attracts new members, boosts engagement, and delivers results just like the NCR SCCA redesign.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The NCR SCCA website serves as the online hub for the North Carolina region of the Sports Car Club of America — a community dedicated to club racing, time trials, solo/autocross, and motorsport-enthusiast events.
The primary goals for the site include:
-
Offering an accessible “get started” path for newcomers interested in Road Racing, Autocross, Time Trials, and Volunteering.
-
Centralizing event information — calendars, upcoming meetings, and registration links — so members and prospective participants can easily find and sign up for events.
-
Providing club history, membership details, news, media (photos/videos), and direct links for merchandising, sponsorship/advertising, and contact.
-
Reflecting the club’s energy, community spirit, and welcoming vibe — from novices to seasoned racers.
THE CHALLENGE
Before the redesign (or initial build), the site faced several key obstacles:
-
Overwhelming navigation structure — With many sections (Road Racing, Solo/Autocross, Time Trials, Volunteer, News, Media, About Us, Merchandise, Sponsorship, etc.), it could be confusing for a first-time visitor to find what they want quickly.
-
Poor new-user onboarding — Prospective members or novices might not easily find the “how to get started” steps or clear guidance on licensing, events, and registration.
-
Lack of visual appeal and brand consistency — Without a cohesive layout, calls-to-action, or a modern design, the site risked looking outdated, potentially discouraging engagement.
-
Maintenance complexity — Given the variety of content (event calendars, news, media galleries, membership info), managing updates across disparate pages could be cumbersome without a consistent design and CMS structure.
These issues risked lowering user engagement, reducing membership conversions, and making it harder for the club to grow.
THE SOLUTION
To address these challenges, we delivered a full website redesign (or build) structured around these principles:
-
Clear, user-centric navigation and calls to action
-
A prominent “START YOUR MOTORSPORTS JOURNEY” hero message on the homepage, immediately guiding users to the primary paths: Road Racing, Autocross, Time Trials, and Volunteer.
-
Consolidated “Get Started” workflows under each discipline — giving step-by-step guidance for novices (e.g., how to get a novice permit, join SCCA, register for events).
-
-
Organized event and membership content
-
Integrated Events Calendar and Meetings sections front and center, making it easy for members to view upcoming events or meetings at a glance.
-
Streamlined registration and results flows by embedding direct links (e.g., to motorsportreg.com) for online registration under each event type (Road Racing, Solo/Autocross, Time Trials).
-
-
Brand-consistent design & modern UI/UX
-
A unified visual identity with consistent fonts, colors, and layout — reinforcing the club’s identity.
-
Prominent calls to action (e.g., “FIND AN EVENT”, “JOIN SCCA”, “VIEW PHOTOS”) to drive engagement.
-
Inclusion of sections for news, media (photos/videos), merchandise, and sponsorship — giving members and fans a full ecosystem for engagement.
-
-
Simplified maintenance and scalability
-
Built on a CMS structure that groups content by type (Events, Results, News, Media, About) — making updates, additions, and edits systematic.
-
Logical hierarchy and reusable templates so future expansions (new event types, additional chapters, more media) can be added without breaking layout or navigation.

THE RESULTS
Since implementing the redesign, the NCR SCCA site has seen improved outcomes (or is positioned to see them), including:
-
Enhanced user experience — Visitors immediately understand where to begin (racing, autocross, time trials, volunteer) without wading through clutter.
-
Higher conversion potential — Clear “Get Started” and “Join SCCA” flows reduce friction for new members or first-time participants.
-
Better engagement with members — Easy access to event calendars, news, and media helps foster community — veterans and newcomers alike.
-
Streamlined content management — Club administrators can efficiently update schedules, news, and media without risking layout or navigation breaks.
-
Stronger brand presence — Cohesive design and clear messaging reflect a professional, organized, and welcoming motorsports club — supporting both member retention and recruitment.
