Project Overview

The online hub for NC motorsport.

The NCR SCCA website serves as the online hub for the North Carolina region of the Sports Car Club of America, a community dedicated to club racing, time trials, solo/autocross, and motorsport-enthusiast events. The primary goals for the site:

  • An accessible “get started” path for newcomers to Road Racing, Autocross, Time Trials, and volunteering
  • Centralized event information (calendars, meetings, and registration links) that's easy to find and sign up for
  • Club history, membership, news, media, merch, sponsorship, and contact in one place
  • A site that reflects the club's energy, community spirit, and welcoming vibe, from novice to seasoned racer

The Challenge

Four obstacles to growth.

Before the redesign, the site faced key obstacles that risked lowering engagement, reducing membership conversions, and making it harder for the club to grow.

/01

Overwhelming Navigation

Road Racing, Solo, Time Trials, Volunteer, News, Media, Merch, Sponsorship… a first-time visitor couldn't quickly find what they wanted.

/02

Poor New-User Onboarding

Prospective members couldn't easily find “how to get started.” Licensing, events, and registration guidance was buried.

/03

Inconsistent Visual Identity

Without a cohesive layout, modern design, or clear calls-to-action, the site risked looking outdated and discouraging engagement.

/04

Maintenance Complexity

Calendars, news, galleries, and membership info spread across disparate pages made every update cumbersome.

The Solution

A redesign built on four principles.

01

Clear, user-centric navigation and calls to action

  • A prominent “START YOUR MOTORSPORTS JOURNEY” hero guiding users to the primary paths
  • Consolidated “Get Started” workflows per discipline: novice permits, joining SCCA, registering for events

02

Organized event and membership content

  • Integrated Events Calendar and Meetings front and center
  • Streamlined registration with direct links to motorsportreg.com under each event type

03

Brand-consistent design and modern UI/UX

  • A unified visual identity with consistent fonts, colors, and layout
  • Prominent CTAs: “FIND AN EVENT”, “JOIN SCCA”, “VIEW PHOTOS”, plus news, media, merchandise, and sponsorship in one ecosystem

04

Simplified maintenance and scalability

  • A CMS structure grouping content by type: Events, Results, News, Media, About
  • Logical hierarchy and reusable templates, so future expansion never breaks layout or navigation
The Transformation

Before & after.

Before

  • Cluttered navigation across a dozen sections
  • No clear starting point for newcomers
  • Dated look with inconsistent branding
  • Updates scattered across disparate pages
After

  • Guided paths: Race, Autocross, Time Trials, Volunteer
  • “Get Started” workflows for every discipline
  • Cohesive, modern, brand-consistent design
  • Structured CMS, so you update once and it's live everywhere
The Results

Positioned for growth.

/01

Enhanced User Experience

Visitors immediately understand where to begin, whether racing, autocross, time trials, or volunteering, without wading through clutter.

/02

Higher Conversion Potential

Clear “Get Started” and “Join SCCA” flows reduce friction for new members and first-time participants.

/03

Better Member Engagement

Easy access to event calendars, news, and media fosters community for veterans and newcomers alike.

/04

Streamlined Management

Club administrators update schedules, news, and media without risking layout or navigation breaks.

/05

Stronger Brand Presence

Cohesive design and clear messaging reflect a professional, welcoming club that supports retention and recruitment.
